WhatsApp AI replies in BM, Manglish, and Brunei Malay
If your customers message in Bahasa Melayu, Manglish, or Brunei Malay, your WhatsApp AI needs clear, polite, owner-confirmation-first examples in each — and it should escalate when unsure rather than guess. The goal is clear and safe, not a perfect translation.
The tone to aim for
- Clear — plain wording a customer understands at a glance.
- Polite — friendly, never blunt or robotic.
- Not over-promising — only commit to what is confirmed.
- Owner-confirmation first — when unsure, confirm rather than guess.
Safe example: confirming a price before answering
The same safe reply — “let me confirm today's price first” — in four ways customers write:
- English: “Let me confirm today's price and availability first so I don't quote the wrong amount.”
- Bahasa Melayu: “Boleh saya sahkan harga dan stok hari ini dulu, supaya tidak tersilap bagi harga?”
- Manglish: “Can ah, let me check the price first then I confirm with you, don't want to quote wrong.”
- Brunei Malay: “Boleh ku check dulu harga ngan stok hari ani, kang ku confirm tia supaya inda tersalah.”
Safe example: handing over to a person
- English: “Let me pass you to our team — they'll confirm and help you properly.”
- Bahasa Melayu: “Saya sambungkan kepada pasukan kami dulu ya, mereka boleh sahkan dan bantu lebih lanjut.”
- Manglish: “I let my team handle this one ah, they can confirm and help you better.”
- Brunei Malay: “Ku sambungkan ke team kami dulu ah, durang boleh confirm ngan tolong lebih lanjut.”
Why local-language testing matters
An AI can sound fine in English but answer awkwardly — or miss the question — in Malay or mixed language. We do not claim perfect translation; the aim is that the reply is clear, polite, and safe, and that the AI escalates when it is unsure. Test the same questions in each language your customers actually use.
